WE MADE IT!!! After 16 hours in the air, the group arrived safely in Delhi on Monday night. It was a quick scramble from our connecting flight to our flight to New Delhi, but we made it through the gate at a run just in time. Praise God, we made it here healthy and with all of our luggage! There were no problems as we went through customs, and after assembling on the sidewalk for a few minutes, we got the whole team loaded into taxis and back to our new home for the next 2 months. We have been adjusting to our new habitat the last few days and Delhi seems to agree with us!
The first day we spent unpacking and settling into our rooms. In the afternoon, we ventured out to the market via rickshaws and spent a few hours exploring, trying samosas and other Indian delicacies, talking to some local people, and simply letting the Indian culture envelope us. We had an amazing night of worship on our roof, looking out over the city. Jet lag didn’t hinder us as much as we expected, and the group seems to be adjusting well to the climate and time changes that have met us here in India.
Today was spent revitalizing and caring for our house—a deep cleaning of many of the rooms was in order. It’s a beautiful house that we have been blessed with to stay in! Quiet time has really been hugely important as we prepare for our first day of ministry tomorrow. Lots of time has been shared worshiping, praying and reading the Word. We’ve learned some useful phrases and words in Hindi, but if we do not open our hearts to hear the words of Christ, we are not prepared to minister. Prayer for our first day of service in the orphanage tomorrow is greatly appreciated and needed! Tomorrow we begin our service to the orphans of India.
