My full name is Katherine, but most people who know me call me Kat. I am 20 years old working full time as part of management of a dollar store, and have worked there for the last year and a half. My sister (Melanie, 18) and I live on our own in Windsor, Ontario. My mom recently moved cities to be with her fiancee as they await the papers for their VISA to go through so they can get married. I grew up in a non-Christian home and lived with my mom my entire life. I have not spoken to my father in 14 years, but have recently been in touch with that part of my family. I have completed a year and a half of formal biblical studies through a distance education program offered through Master’s College & Seminary in Toronto. I am not currently enrolled in any classes mostly because I couldn’t afford it, but the time off is giving me time to take an objective look at my life and the way I spend my time. I am passionate about living my life for God in radical and revolutionary ways. I am currently heading up leadership development within the inner city youth group at my home church, Lifeline. I have also begun a ministry called the Praying City. I dream of this as being the next prayer movement to break down walls and divisions within the Body of Christ; I dream of this movement making waves across nations. There is also talk of starting a young adult church within Lifeline, which I am very excited about. I have been a part of three mission trips up to the Native reserve of Deer Lake in Northern Ontario. For me, missions is about being involved in relationships, being interested in people’s lives and making an impact in our world that cries out in desparation. Mostly I want to live like Jesus did in new and transforming ways outside the church buildings, into the world. I have a heart to see the children of God come together to become the Church that Christ intended: a church that is about love and nothing more.
