Hope is an essential part of my life.
Who I am today is solely relying on God. When I am tired, when I am weak, God carries me through. and in the times when I cannot see beyond my issues, God pushes through and gives me strength.
I was able to witness one of the greatest pcitures of Hope I have ever seen. I cannot describe hope other than this way…
one morning as I was sad and discouraged, I asked God to show me hope. He directed me to teh top of FGCU’s parking garage very early in the morning. As I drove, while looking at the darkness sorrouding me, and the dense fog, I began to disbelief that the sunrise would be even visible.
When I arrived on the fourth floor, I sat on the ledge and began to wait. I waited and waited, and the more I did so, the more my heart yearned for the sun to break through the clouds and shine on my face. When I was finally so discouraged that the sun would not in fact be visible that morning, just when I wanted to leave I looked up.
Through the dense fog I was able to see the faint outline of the sun.
This showed to me that when we least expect it, when we feel that God is not present in our lives, He is the light that sorrounds us. I was not able to first see that although the direct sunlight did not hit the trees around me that morning, I was still able to distinguish them. This is hope- the fact that although we are not able to see directly God’s will, that we are not able to witness God’s glory, one day some day, when He makes everything right, we will understand and we will be able to share in His glory.
and for this, my soul will wait and hope for.
